Responsible Jewellery Council
The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) is a non-profit certification and standards body founded in 2005.
There are 2 categories of RJC: Code of Practice (COP) and Chain of Custody (COC). Pichard-Balme is accredited to RJC – Code of Practice certification.
The purpose of this commitment is to promote responsible ethical, social and environmental practices, with respect for human rights, throughout the gold and/or diamond jewellery supply chain, from mining to retail. The RJC’s aim is to build client confidence by following strict rules while being fully transparent about the management of precious stones and metals.

Therefore, as a manufacturer and supplier of luxury goods, we refuse to work together with partners that do not respect these values or for whom we have reasonable doubts. As such, we ensure that our employees and business partners equally share the same practices and expectations.
This is why we are audited every 3 years to renew our certificate.

The 6 golden rules of the Code of Practice
The rules of the Code of Practice are defined by the Members of the RJC.
The entire jewellery supply chain must respect the following points:
General obligations
To optimise legal and regulatory compliance, reporting and promotion of responsible business and operational practices with business partners.
Responsible sourcing and respect for human rights
Increasing the use of due diligence in diamond, gold and platinum mine metal supply chains to promote respect for human rights, community development, anti-corruption and to manage risks related to the origin of products.
Rights and working conditions
To increase the level of compliance with international labour conventions and the implementation of responsible working conditions in the Jewellery supply chain.
Health, Safety and Environment
To ensure responsible health, safety and environmental management practices are in place.
Gold, diamond and platinum mine metal products
To ensure appropriate disclosure and controls on information given on diamonds, gold and metals from the platinum mine, including information for consumers.
Responsible mining operations
To enhance the implementation of responsible mining and exploration practices as a starting point for the production of diamonds, gold and metals from the platinum mine for Jewellery products.
